RANT Segments & Headlines:

  1. Cookie dough… http://butthatsnoneofmybusiness.com/cookie-dough-can-explodes-in-womans-vagina-during-shoplifting-incident/

  2. Phrama Bro Martin Shkreli was arrested by the FBI over the price gouging, but mostly over securities fraud. Today he resigned as the CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals. 4. Congress mandated that NASA go to Europa, and gave them more money to boot. Obama requested 18.5 billion, congress slated 19.3 billion. The main motivation for the commercial crew budget increase seems to be ending NASA's reliance on Russia as soon as possible. http://arstechnica.com/science/2015/12/congress-nasa-must-not-only-go-to-europa-it-must-land/ http://www.theverge.com/2015/12/16/10289030/nasa-budget-increase-2016-congress-funding

  5. China has leaped into science fiction land in a couple ways this week.

    1. The Chinese government launched Wukong (translates to Monkey King) which is way catchier than the official dark Matter Particle Explorer, or DAMPE. Wukong will use its large surface area to observe high volumes of cosmic rays, as well as where they come from. It will survey the sky at energies much higher than that of existing detectors such as the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), which is currently attached to the International Space Station. “We don’t know if this is a better way to search for dark matter, because dark matter has not yet been found,” says Mike Capell, an AMS physicist at CERN, Europe’s particle-physics laboratory. http://www.nature.com/news/china-s-dark-matter-satellite-launches-era-of-space-science-1.19059

    2. Thanks to a Canadian Company Vitality Air, the Chinese people are living the Spaceballs way and breathing cleaner Perri-air. The brisk Alberta air is sold for $14 in a 3 liter compressed container complete with breathing mask and hose. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/12051354/Chinese-buy-up-bottles-of-fresh-air-from-Canada.html http://www.geek.com/news/spaceballs-becomes-reality-canadian-company-is-selling-bottled-air-to-the-chinese-1642442/

  6. In related news, Mel Brooks has confirmed that development of a Spaceballs sequel is underway. http://www.blastr.com/2015-2-6/mel-brooks-confirms-development-spaceballs-sequel-hopefully-original-cast

  7. Putin endorses Donald Trump… Donald Trump defends Putin’s “Murder of Journalists” saying “Our Country does plenty of killing also”. The bromance continues.  http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/12/17/vladimir-putin-praises-donald-trump-sealing-a-long-distance-bromance/?_r=0  http://www.mediaite.com/tv/donald-trump-defends-putins-murder-of-journalists-our-country-does-plenty-of-killing-also/

  8. And politics…

  9. The GOP had their 5th debate on CNN. It was largely identical to the previous 4 but with less people in the clown car. I watched it for you, and really, genuinely, they want a holy war with radical islam, but they don’t know what that actually is and will go to war with any country in the middle east, especially if it has oil and citizens wearing ethnic attire. I wish I was kidding. Here listen to this extracted audio, all from the CNN GOP Debate. https://www.facebook.com/FusionNetwork/videos/1045722228800622/

  10. And finally, There is a feud going on at the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has not had much to say in regards to Bernie Sanders, and in many cases has evaded the set up to at least compliment his achievements this race.

The Good:

  1. The government of Sri Lanka announced this week that Google’s Project Loon will provide "affordable high-speed" internet coverage for the entire country, beamed from balloons floating in the atmosphere. Neither the Sri Lankan government or Google has set a concrete timetable, but foreign minister Mangala Samaraweera made mention of the country being covered in “a few months.” The country of Sri Lanka covers 24,954 square miles, with a population a little more than 22 million. Loon’s latest iteration is called the Nighthawk, a collaboration between the Loon team and aerospace designer Raven Aerostar. The Nighthawks will be outfitted with LTE antennas to send data to mobile phones, and capable of transmission from balloon to balloon and to telecommunication stations on the ground. The balloons are slated to stay in the air for 100 days at a time. - http://www.popsci.com/google-set-provide-entire-country-wi-fi

  2. Mark Zuckerberg announced the completion of Aquila, Facebook’s first full-scale aircraft designed to deliver wireless internet with lasers, as a part of their project with Internet.org. Aquila is solar-powered, weighs “less than a car,” and has the wingspan of a Boeing 737, - http://www.popsci.com/heres-look-facebooks-internet-drone

The Bad:

  1. 911 dispatcher, Matthew Sanchez, with the Albuquerque Fire Department has been reassigned after hanging up on a frustrated caller attending to a dying gunshot victim, NBC News reports.
